Graduate Medical Education (GME)

Welcome to Rush University Medical Center for
the coming academic year!

The Office of Graduate Medical Education is here to assist you in making your transition to Rush easier. By following these easy guidelines and deadlines, you will be ready to hit the ground running on your first day. We will cover many items at orientation, but some things have been placed on the Web to be completed prior to the orientation to make the process faster and easier.

Please review the following items very thoroughly.

Please see the links below and at right for detailed instructions. It is crucial for you to read this information very carefully and to respond to these items before you arrive on campus. We have placed the required forms online for your convenience.

Licensing materials and the Personal Data form require your attention now and should be immediately returned to GME.

All these other forms should be returned as soon as possible and no later than April 15th in order to have a smooth and timely transition. We will all benefit from your early responses.

Do you have your NPI number yet? You have to wait until you have your medical license. Rush will also need it!

If not, please go online and apply for this free number which you will need for the rest of your professional life. Here is the site: https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov On the application, please note you are NOT the sole proprietor.

By May 30th at the latest, you must have made your selection of health benefits and mailed in the benefits checklist with all the applications and required documentation. Click here to Sign Up for Benefits.

Please return all forms to the GME office BEFORE THE DEADLINES listed!!!!!

Please let the GME office and your program coordinator know your Chicago address as soon as you get local housing. If any information changes, including your e-mail address, please inform the GME office (rush_gme@rush.edu) and your program coordinator.

We are so glad you will be joining us at Rush and we look forward to welcoming you. If you have any questions about the process, or if I can help you with anything, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the GME staff.

Thank you for your cooperation in getting these important tasks done ASAP!
